Females becoming more insurance savvy

Women are becoming increasingly knowledgeable when it comes to buying car insurance with figures from a new study suggesting that women are more responsible than their male counterparts about getting insurance.

According to data collected by Sheila's Wheels, the average woman spends over two hours searching for a good insurance policy before making her decision.

Jacky Brown, a spokesperson for the company says that "women are becoming more discerning customers - they want well-priced and good quality car insurance".

A large number of female customers, (37 per cent) take less than an hour to choose their insurance provider; this may be due to the speed at which decisions can now be reached by using online price comparison tools.

Unfortunately, a quarter of those surveyed by the company said that they never take time to research their car insurance policies. Of those who do, only half familiarise themselves with the small print.

When buying insurance of any kind, it is especially important to compare options and to be aware of what each company offers, as well as what is covered and what is not.
