A new airline franchise agreement between Loganair and flybe aims to give Scottish passengers a greater choice of European and UK flight connections.
Loganair currently offers services in the Islands and Highlands, while flybe runs out of four Scottish airports. The franchise will have no effect on the 40% discount tickets awarded to passengers from remote areas of the country.
The franchise, which will move into action on 26 October, will sell tickets on flybe.com beginning in June.
Flybe chief executive and chairman Jim French said the franchise was "a win-win for both airlines."
"This landmark agreement, the first time a low cost carrier has entered into such a franchise arrangement, is an exciting development in the evolution of the low cost model and one which flybe sees as a valid strategic option for the future," French said.
Scott Grier, chairman of Loganair, said this move was a "significant step" for the airline.
"The air service networks of both airlines are complementary and this deal will give our customers a greater choice of UK and European connections," Grier said.
