In this year's Skytrax aviation awards, the Prague International Airport Ruzyne was awarded the best airport in Central and Eastern Europe. The World Airport Awards was based on information gathered by a British company who gives awards in several categories in the field of world aviation every year.
While the Prague Airport was first in its regional category, it didn't place in the top three worldwide. Incheon in South Korea and Changi Airport in Singapore were joint runners-up for the honour of being the world's best airport this year but it was Hong Kong International Airport that took first prize.
In the regional category of European airports, the top three places went to Munchen, Zurich and Amsterdam.
Surveys conducted by Skytrax over the year gathered opinions from some 8 million passengers in 95 countries. There were 40 categories of questions to consider for each airport including such variables as access, washroom cleanliness and the friendliness of staff at the airport.
