Low-cost flights link the UK to Romania

Budget airline Wizz Air recently announced flights three times a week between John Lennon Airport and Bucharest. The new flights between Liverpool and Eastern Europe will take off October 1st.

In addition to the new route, Wizz Air will also be adding more flights to the existing route between Bucharest and London's Luton Airport. With only three flights a week currently operating, the airline has vowed to double its service beginning July 14th.

The additional flights to the UK are part of the company's goal to fly 1 million passengers to and from Romania by the end of 2008.

Wizz Air's director of corporate communications and public affairs, Natasa Kazmer, commented: "The low cost air travel market in Romania is in the early stages of development, so there is a lot of room for expansion."

New routes connecting Bucharest to destinations in Italy such as Palma and Valencia have been proposed but the airline has yet to make any announcement about actual flights and schedules.

Wizz Air provides low-cost flights to many countries in Eastern Europe. The airline flies between Transylvania-Tirgu Mures and Budapest, as well as to Rome and Barcelona.
