Approximately one-third of the Virgin Atlantic cabin crew will take part in two different 48-hour strikes scheduled for January 9-10 and January 16-17.
The crew voted today to take strike action in January, while results of the UK airport staff strike vote are to be released tomorrow.
Twelve flights will be cancelled by Virgin Atlantic because of the strikes, including flights from London to New York, Boston, Nairobi and Chicago. Passengers are advised to check for further details on flight cancellations. All passengers affected are eligible for a full refund or the option to rebook the flight for a different route or date.
The results of the voting of 5,000 members of the union Unite will be released tomorrow. If the vote is in favour of a strike, UK airports operator BAA faces delays and cancellations at Heathrow, Stansted, Gatwick, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Southampton and Aberdeen. Action would begin as early as December 27.
BAA expects around 2.7 million people to go through its airports at Christmas, leaving the potential for a lot of frustration if strikes go through.
Dense fog in the UK caused over 100 flight delays and cancellations last Christmas.
