Huge numbers of Britons swarmed across the Channel into France last weekend for the Rugby World Cup. They came without hotel reservations or tickets to the game and many made the trip without adequate car insurance
Following England's victory over the weekend, the World Cup fervour has only increased with fans anxious to get a hold of tickets. Fans, according to the Telegraph, are paying up to eight times the ticket value to get their hands on tickets.
While those who have not secured accommodation or tickets may yet be lucky enough to find something at the last minute, no World Cup fan should be without travel insurance when they head to the match.
Laura Wood from NFU Mutual is urging those who plan to drive to France to take a moment and check their car insurance policy before heading out.
"As people frantically book up the remaining Channel crossings in the hope of seeing their team lift the trophy for a second time, insurance is probably the last thing on their mind. However, driving on unfamiliar foreign roads can be a tricky business," she said.
She also suggested that drivers do a quick vehicle inspection before leaving home including checking tyre pressure, the condition of their wiper blades and their oil levels.
