Robin Hood airport initiates carbon offsetting scheme

Robin Hood airport has teamed up with South Yorkshire Forest to initiate a carbon offsetting scheme, whereby passengers can counteract their flight's carbon emissions by contributing to the local environment.

The new scheme is known as "Last Call" gives passengers the chance to donate money to help plant trees in the local forest whenever they fly to or from Robin Hood Doncaster airport.

Customers can support the initiative by making donations via a collection box found in the airport's departure lounge or on the Last Call! website. Whats more, the airport will double contributions by pledging to match customer donations.

The scheme is also being backed by Liverpool John Lennon Airport alongside Mersey Forest, and Durham Tees Valley Airport with the Tees Forest, which are all part of the Peel Airport Group. They are the first UK airport group to back such a scheme.
