New Terminal in Paris for the world's largest planes

Recently elected French president, Nicolas Sarkozy, opened a new extension to the Paris Airport on June 27. The new building is ultra modern, made from steel and glass, is 820 yards in length and is designed to accommodate 26 aircraft and serve some 8.5 million passengers a year.

In addition to responding to the needs of an increasing number of passengers, the new terminal will also accommodate a new breed of aircraft: the Airbus A-380, the largest aircraft in the world. The new airport extension is capable of housing six of the new models, which should be arriving in France soon.

The French President was proud both of the engineering required for the new extension and of the technology powering the new aircrafts. In his speech he said, "I see here the proof that France has all the elements of a great industrial policy".

The extension is only a minute away from Terminal 2E in Charles de Gaulle Airport by train. In addition to its impressive architecture the extension features an enormous shopping area and a large selection of bars and restaurants.

Charles de Gaulle Airport is the second busiest airport in the world, after London Heathrow Airport and is the largest airport in France.
