KLM to sign partnership agreement with Mondial Assistance

Travellers booking their flights online with Dutch airline KLM will soon be able to purchase Travel insurance with Mondial Assistance at the same time. The two companies are in the midst of final discussions and plan to sign the agreement soon.

Travellers will be able to book their flight and insurance at the same time, but they can also make a separate insurance purchase with Mondial if they wish.

KLMs e-Marketing Manager, Marcel Kuijn, said: The solution offered by Mondial Assistance allows our customers worldwide to book travel-insurance on KLM.com, something they have been clearly requesting. By integrating insurance in our flight booking process we are able to provide a relevant product in a convenient way. This will make KLM.com an even more attractive place to do business with KLM. Moreover, travel insurance is an important source of ancillary revenues.

Initially the insurance option will be available to residents of the airline's two biggest markets, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom. Mondial Assistance is available in 60 countries, however, and KLM intends to gradually extend its offerings to other markets in the future.
