A new service by Jet Airways is linking Mumbai to Newark, New York on a daily basis. The service flies through Jet Airways new hub in Brussels, which is acting as the airlines gateway to both India and North America.
The new flight leaves Mumbai at 02:10, arriving in Newark at 11:55 local time. Flight 9W227 departs Newark at 20:25 and lands in Mumbai at 22:30 the following day.
Next year, Jet Airways is planning to use the Brussels hub to introduce new flights between Delhi and Toronto. The airline plans to expand until it offers ten daily flights from the European hub to destinations in India, America and Canada. Some destinations are still awaiting approval from the government but proposed cities include Ahmedabad, Chennai, and Bangalore in India and Chicago, New York JFK and Los Angeles in America.
Naresh Goyal, the chairman for Jet Airways explained the expansion: We were looking for an opportunity to combine our expansion plans to the US and Canada with an efficient hub in Europe and a strong national carrier, we have found it all at Brussels.
The new India to America flights will use a new Boeing 777-300 ER plane which features three classes and 312 seats. First class suites have sliding doors which allow for total privacy during the flight while first class cabins lack the doors but still come equipped with long flat beds and large flat screen televisions.
Wolfgang Prock-Schauer, CEO of Jet Airways, said: To commence service on this important transatlantic sector connecting India with United States is a truly historic moment for us and allows us to take the spirit of new India into one of the world's most important sectors. On all flights this state-of-the-art Boeing 777-300ER enables our passengers to experience superior cabin comfort. It is equipped with the world's best flat beds and an in-flight entertainment system (IFE) which promises to offer unmatched passenger delight.
