Train operator First Great Western (FGW) said Friday that severe flooding caused delayed services between London and south Wales and the West Country.
The service between London and south Wales has been limited, while a closed track has disrupted the route between Bristol and Newport.
The FGW website stated: "Due to the flooding there are limited long distance services leaving London Paddington. This is expected to continue for the rest of the evening."
Flooding has also forced the route between Bristol and Weston-super-Mare to close, as well as the service running from Swindon to Bristol Parkway.
All travellers are advised to check with FGW before planning journeys from Paddington, as travel times may be increased. Friday tickets will be accepted on Saturday and Sunday.
Rain and sleet was predicted to clear on Friday night, according to the Met Office, but FGW warned of possible further flooding.
The M4 and M5 interchange roads were also affected by the weather conditions, as well as some roads in Gloucestershire. Around 40 students were rescued from a north Somerset primary school when flooding cut off all access roads.
