Travel with the best... insurance

According to insurance provider Bradford and Bingley, there is no other month of the year quite like December for insurance claims. Lots of people are travelling for the holiday season and many are taking advantage of the winter weather to take a ski or snowboard vacation and coming back injured. Whatever your plans for this December, make sure that you don't leave the country without first taking out the best winter sports travel insurance policy for your needs.

Choosing the right policy is important because it will mean that you pay the least amount possible to get the most coverage necessary. You don't want to get so little coverage that your cheap policy leaves you with a big bill, but you don't want to pay high premiums for nothing, either.

The first factor to consider when buying insurance is age. Those between 18 and 54 are unlikely to have any problems getting a good policy and those under the age of 18 are likely to be covered by a good family insurance plan. Those over 65 will want to look for more specialist insurance agents to make sure they get a good deal.

Those with pre-existing medical conditions may find it difficult to find good insurance, particularly if they want to be covered for that condition since most companies will not do so. Different companies will accept different medical conditions, but you'll need to shop around, ask lots of questions and you may need to go through a health screening process.

Finally, where you go and what you plan to do should definitely influence the kind of insurance you take out. Winter sports coverage is essential for anyone hitting the slopes this December as an accident can be costly. Sometimes the coverage is included in the price quoted and sometimes it's extra. Not all winter sports covers are the same either, some pay for avalanche and piste closure, others cover those who venture off-piste.

Enjoy the holiday season but travel safely and securely knowing you're travelling with the best travel insurance policy you could find.
