As a result of heavy snowfall across the south east of England, the midlands and Wales, Gatwick, Stansted, Birmingham, London City, Cardiff and Bristol airports had to close temporarily.
These airports have now reopened but cancellations are expected especially at Heathrow and Gatwick airport as announced by BAA this morning. Customers are therefore advised to check their flight status with their airline before travelling.
Luton airport was also temporarily closed but has now re-opened.
Furthermore, driving conditions are said to be treacherous and the public is being warned to keep away from the roads in the South east of England and southern Wales.
On the other hand Scotland, Northern Ireland and south west England seem to have been the least affected.
